摘要:
The Advanced Photon Source (APS) is currently undergoing its first major upgrade since its commissioning in 1995. This upgrade project includes the construction of at least eight new beamlines, which promise to enable new research frontiers. One of its key performance parameters is to focus 25 keV x-ray to 20 nm. Moreover, two of the planned new beamlines will require focusing reflective optics with 50-nm resolution and diffractive optics to focus hard x-rays to 20 nm. In this talk, after a brief introduction, I will describe the strategy for meeting the APS future needs and will discuss current achievement, and the challenges that lie ahead.
